What we do

Staff Selection, Training and Field Office Set-up

How can you get established in a new country and ensure streamlined operations? Finding the right staff, office support and base are critical, as well as navigating the commercial pitfalls in setting up a company or joint venture. Mistakes at these early stages can cause costly delays.

Sentinel Consulting has developed a simple methodology to set up operations efficiently and effectively. Our consultants will use their extensive destination knowledge and expertise to build a network of local contacts and set out the country's legislative framework and political landscape. We can help to create and train the right staff team with the abilities to make things happen and also resolve issues locally, rather than impose an external structure which does not understand the local culture.

The methodology involves four stages:

  • Stage 1 – Country briefing and feasibility
  • Stage 2 – Confirming the scope of work
  • Stage 3 – Research and networking
  • Stage 4 – Reconnaissance visit

Stage 1 – Country briefing and feasibility

We will compile a detailed and broad ranging country summary with a focus on the practicalities involved in operating in any given destination. Topics include politics, history, people, hazards, health and travel.

Stage 2 – Confirming the scope of work

A meeting with the company will establish the framework for a more detailed brief; timelines, the scale of operation and specific activities are confirmed to enable the commercial structures to be fit for purpose. This summary of non-sensitive information informs the next two stages.

Stage 3 – Research and networking

Key individuals, organisations and agencies to support the set-up will be identified and contacted directly. This will also involve meetings with recent travellers, local companies and regional experts, generating first-hand and up-to-date information on the country, its procedures and services. Concurrently arrangements and meetings for the reconnaissance visit are set up.

Stage 4 – Reconnaissance visit

Finally a visit is undertaken either by Sentinel Consultants or the company employees.   This critical step allows face-to-face meetings with key parties, to establish agreements, submit paperwork and confirm arrangements to enable operations to begin.

A final report will outline the key contacts, procedures and guidance on setting up operations for the scope of work in the given destination. Training for staff can then be designed and delivered according to your needs.
