Operations Systems

We develop and improve safety management and operations systems for organisations and businesses that operate with personnel overseas. We work in a range of sectors including: oil and gas exploration, travel and tourism, mining and resource exploration, non-governmental organisations, charities, utilities, and government agencies.

Each organisation has its own terminology to encompass their planning, communications, safety management, risk assessment, emergency planning and crisis management procedures and systems. Our consultants look at these systems, reporting lines and areas of responsibility in their entirety assess them against good practice across several industry sectors and then design improvements.

We work most effectively when we report to a very senior level and have access across departments as it is often at the interface of departmental responsibilities that issues and inefficiencies occur

A criticism of many consultancies is that they report the benefits of complex organisational change without having to deal with the consequences of implementation. Our consultancy is based on our years of actual operations experience and our solutions are practical and workable. We work with client organisations through the organisational change, contribute to the change management and work in partnership through the implementation stages until revised or new systems are integrated into the business and are working effectively.

Case Study

Sentinel Consulting was approached by one of the UK's leading Adventure Travel Companies who felt that they needed the advice of an external company to match their market position with industry leading operational safety management systems.

Methodology

Working alongside the company's operations team, Sentinel conducted a thorough review of their existing systems. We identified strengths and weaknesses and areas for improvement and followed this up with a document which contained recommendations for improvement and an action plan.

The company's operations team, with guidance from Sentinel, implemented the action plan and tested it to make sure it covered all their initial objectives.

Outcome

Sentinel was able to provide clear and effective consultancy that resulted in the company evolving a practical and effective operational safety management system.
